Woven in the Ghiordes (Gördes) region of Western Anatolia, this antique piece stands out for its unusual design and ethereal palette, featuring a soft, oxidized green field—an uncommon and highly desirable tone in rugs from this period.
The central field presents a vertical meditative composition of stylized tree and floral motifs, rendered in a soothing blend of terracotta, soft rose, ivory, and chocolate hues. Architectural elements reminiscent of mihrab niches flank the composition, reinforcing its function as a prayer rug while lending it classical symmetry and sacred geometry.
A defining feature is the rug’s complex series of multiple borders.
