An extraordinary find, this antique Uzbek Lakai Tribe silk-embroidered Ilgich/Ayna Khalta/mirror bag dates back to the last quarter of the 19th century. Featuring an envelope shape with false flaps, these Lakai embroideries were traditionally mirror bags used in wedding ceremonies. This particular piece, holding historical significance, would house the mirror through which the bride and groom beheld each other for the first time.

The delicate chain-stitched silk embroidery on a red and black ground showcases large disc-shaped motifs with directional stitching and intricate details in stunning colors. Despite some wear on the embroidery, which does not detract from its overall beauty, the piece is in very good condition. This exquisite textile art is being offered at a remarkably attractive price, making it a captivating addition to any collection.
